My advice to incoming students is simple...socialize. While focusing on school is important, enjoying your college experience matters just as much. The best way to do that at LSUA is by connecting with others. Find a group of people—or even just one person—to become friends with. Believe it or not, having friends can actually help you succeed academically. You need to make time for yourself and the things you enjoy, and spending that time with a new friend can make all the difference. And who knows, maybe they’ll even know the answers to your next biology quiz.
The highlight of my college experience has been the incredible connections I’ve made with both students and faculty. The friends and mentors I’ve met are the reason I love LSUA so much. I’ve created unforgettable memories with people I didn’t even know before coming to this university. Building relationships with faculty like Mr. Caleb Funderburk and Mr. Ethan Lipsey has shown me just how special LSUA truly is. The genuine kindness and ability of students and faculty to make others feel welcome is something uniquely found here at LSUA.
I chose LSUA because, as cliche as it may sound, it felt like home when I vsited for Spend The Day at A. Originally it was not my first choice as I was considering several schools, with LSUA being one of them. I decided to go on a tour to give it a fair chance and that was the best decision I made. I immediately felt like this was the college for me. I was impressed with the friendliness of everyone I met on the campus. I was drawn to the pleasant environment and the walkable campus. It felt like a place I could call home for the next four years. In addition, a few of my friends chose LSUA as well. Lastly, the campus is a driveable distance from my home. I am at the end of my first semester and as I look back, my decision in coming here was truly the best one I've made and I'm so glad to be a part of LSUA family.
My favorite campus tradition is technically not a tradition—at least not yet. The Block Party at the Oaks was my favorite event this year, and I truly hope it becomes an official LSUA tradition. Even though it was freezing cold, students came together to have a great time. I was working a booth during the event, and that perspective allowed me to see the joy on everyone’s faces and the genuine smiles being shared. It perfectly captured what LSUA is all about: family coming together.
