Get yourself involved! Become recognizable! College brings forth life-long friendships, so be open! Join a club, join that sport, and do as much as you can (of course while keeping those grades up), and remember to enjoy yourself! Attend the lectures, participate, and stay on top of your workload. Study and study more (it'll be worth it). Be inclusive and compassionate! Gain a sense of curiosity and explore your options — times like these only happen once. Go for it and do great things!
The ultimate campus tradition(s) I really enjoy to embark on is General's Jam and Homecoming. General's Jam welcomes faculty/staff, students, and the public to enjoy thousands of pounds of crawfish funded by SGA!! Live music is playing, people are socializing, and of course, crawfish is getting eaten — what's more to love?! Homecoming is a very exciting event filled with campus involvement (ie., events, scavenger hunts, and get togethers) for a whole week!! The week kicks off with home basketball games where the campus announces their homecoming king and queen!! These are just two of my favorite ... there's so much more to choose from, join along and you'll see for yourself!
My favorite spot on campus is the Catholic Student Organization (CSO). This center welcome visitors like no other!! People gather to spend quality time with one another, others study, and some just stop by — it's a friendly environment. The highlights (to me at least) of the center are: free food, the lounge areas, the chapel, the sports equipment, the people, the peacefulness, the small library, and church. They provide free lunch somedays and are always down to chat and socialize! They truly make it feel like a home away from home!! Fun fact — this is the first place I visited when I got accepted into the university! It's always a pleasure to stop by! If you are ever free, we'd love to see you!
